The ING DIRECT "Double your Refund"
Contest Rules and Conditions

General:

  1. The ING DIRECT "Double your Refund" Contest (the "Contest") starts on March 2, 2009 at 12:01 am EST (the "Commencement Date"), and continues until October 31, 2009 at 11:59 pm EST (the "Contest Close Date"). The Contest is open to all ING DIRECT Clients with an Investment Savings Account, RSP Investment Savings Account, Business Investment Savings Account or Tax-Free Investment Savings Account (hereinafter collectively referred to as "Applicable Accounts").

Eligibility:

  1. During the promotional period, ING DIRECT Clients must register with the Canada Revenue Agency (the "CRA") to have their 2008 tax refunds deposited directly into any one of their Applicable Accounts. During the month of November 2009, ten (10) winners will be randomly selected to win a cash Prize, the value of which will be equal to the amount deposited into the Applicable Account via direct deposit of their 2008 tax refund by the CRA (up to $5,000 CAD). Chances of winning depend on the number of valid entries received.
  2. NO PURCHASE NECESSARY FOR CONTEST ENTRY. Any ING DIRECT Client may enter the Contest by submitting a handwritten essay of 50 words or more on the subject of <<the significance of saving for Canadians>>. On a separate 3" x 5" plain piece of paper submitted with the essay, please print your name, age, address and telephone number and sign and mail both with sufficient postage to: ING DIRECT "Double your refund" Contest, 111 Gordon Baker Road, Toronto, Ontario M2H 3R1. All such entries must be received by ING DIRECT before October 31, 2009, and are limited to one entry per family.

Limitations:

  1. If this Contest is not capable of being run as planned we reserve the right to terminate or suspend the Contest, in whole or in part, or modify it in any way at our sole discretion.
  2. We reserve the right to vary, delete or add to any of these rules and regulations from time to time without prior notice. In the event of conflict, these Rules and Conditions shall prevail over any of the contents of any brochure or other promotional materials advertising this Contest.
  3. We reserve the right to withdraw the Contest in whole or in part, or to vary any of the Rules and Conditions herein at any time and from time to time without notice at our absolute discretion. We reserve the right to end the Contest earlier or to extend Contest Period further at our discretion.
  4. We reserve the right, to suspend, disqualify, limit or revoke this Contest to any Client we find or believe to be manipulating or otherwise abusing the process, fairness, integrity or operation of the Contest.
  5. Québec residents: Any litigation respecting the conduct or organization of a publicity Contest in Québec may be submitted to the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux for a ruling. Any litigation respecting the awarding of a Prize may be submitted to the Régie only for the purpose of helping the parties reach a settlement. We reserve the right, with the consent of the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux in Québec, to cancel or modify the Contest if, at our discretion, we determine that for any reason the Contest is not capable of running as originally planned or if there is fraud, technical failure, printing or distribution errors, or any other causes or occurrences which have compromised the fairness or integrity of the Contest.
  6. Prizes are not transferable and must be accepted as awarded and shall not be exchanged for any other item. Any federal, or provincial and/or local taxes/duties are the sole responsibility of the winner. Should the winner refuse to accept the Prize as awarded, ING DIRECT, its member financial institutions, their affiliated companies and advertising agencies are released from any obligation related to the Prize. We reserve the right to substitute the Prize for a Prize of equal or greater value should all or part of the Prize become unavailable for any reason.
  7. The selected entrants will be notified by telephone and/or by mail via information contained on their entry form or in the account records of ING DIRECT. In order to be declared the winner, the selected entrant must first correctly answer, unaided, a time-limited, arithmetical, skill-testing question to be administered by mail, or by telephone at a pre-arranged, mutually convenient time, and then sign and return the standard declaration and release form of ING DIRECT. If the selected entrant is not available, after one attempt is made to contact him/her by whichever method chosen by ING DIRECT, we reserve the right to select a new entrant. If any selected entrant is unable to correctly answer the skill-testing question, then another entrant will be selected and the process outlined above will be repeated until a winner is declared. Failure by any selected entrant to complete, sign and return any of the aforementioned documents within 10 days after notification is sent to the address on the selected entrant’s entry, or the return of Prize documents as undeliverable, may result in forfeiture of the Prize and selection of an alternate winner at our discretion.
  8. The contest is only open to residents of Canada who have reached the age of majority in the province in which they reside. Employees of the Contest Organizer, and their representatives, agents, advertising agencies and promotional agencies, and their immediate family members and persons they reside with are not eligible to participate.
